i have a younger cousin who is very close to me, like a brother. we come from a fairly conservative family, fairly religious and homosexuality is not talked about openly by the older generation. however, i have had many gay friends and i think that my cousin should feel that he could tell me when he's ready. how should i make him feel more like he can talk to me about it if he wants to? i don't want to start bringing up the subject to seem like i'm searching for information, but i want him to know that he can if he wants to.

i think my family suspects, and i know they won't be surprised or anything. but i feel that if he were to tell someone it would be me so i feel like i have the responsibility to be the barrier.

not barrier, i mean the sort of older sister-like person who he may tell first.

Just talk about your gay friends and how much you like them, that way he will know that you are open to the idea of gay people. That way, if he is gay, he will be comfortable telling you.

Society is complete of a collection of children who cry "Wah Wah!" if someone behaves, looks, or maybe talks in a unique way. don't worry my pal, homophobes are a lack of life breed and the global is turning out to be extremely a lot less UNEDUCATED and extra open and sweet in course of the gay community...nicely it is better than it replaced into many years in the past a minimum of. greenback up! yet for protection causes...do not say some thing to that psychopathic church of yours...i'm sorry yet BURNING human beings???? that is disgusting...

I'd like to add to the consensus of bringing up your support casually that emphasizing that you would keep his confidence would be important. It only takes one person to blab for a homophobe to get wind of it and then his life is hell. That's how I feel, anyway, and I'm closeted with a hostile religious family.

You might want to mention something about a gay friend and how much you support them and how nothing is wrong with being gay. Say encouraging things so he knows he can open up to you.

Instead of taking matters into your own hands talk to your family about what you're suspecting. They may laugh and dissmiss what you say but when he's ready to tell not only you but the family they won't act surprised. GOOD LUCK!!!

Talk about some of your gay friends, tell him how great they are & such. It will give hinm the opportunity to bring it up himself.
You are a good person....let him know you'll always support him!

Open the door for him/her so he/she could have a breather space after hiding in the closet for so long. Love him who he is and let God be the judge.

Talk about a friend of yours that's gay and say "he's such a nice guy, he needs a good guy... you guys would get along so well if you were gay." See how he reacts, if he gets defensive say you're saying and that you were just saying...

Just let him know that your views on sexuality wouldn't cause you to be aggressive toward him if he ever did come out to you.
