Try going to a library's website, many public libraries have an on line book database where you can download books to read. My library has it for free for card holders--you just have to register before you can access anything. Your library's website might have a similar program

If this book is available in its entirety online, then the website is violating copyright. While some works of classic literature (works by authors like Shakespeare and Dickens, who have been dead so long that their works are not covered by copyright) are legally available online, any late 20th Century work would be illegal if it appeared online. You can, however, find them for free in almost any library. As a last resort, you might conisder going to Amazon and using their "Search inside the book" feature. They have SOME books in their entirety and good samples of others.

go to the guttenberg project for free books - there aren't any contemporary authors so unfortunately no Vonnegut, but it's one of the few places you can read books online for free or download them
