from practicing in your mirror? : how ever much effort and time you put in, but from living in the south? are you living around people who have a southern accent almost 24/7? or is your co-worker southern?

to naturally pick it up, at most 3 months, but it depends.

Getting a southern accent is just the same as to adapt anyother accent.
It would take few years.
Probably if you were a kid, or teen, you grow up talking like them.

What do you mean? There is no time period in which you acquire an accent, you just do. I have an accent that is a mixture of all the places where I have lived.

Alas, for some people it's simply unobtainable. The President has three brothers and he's the only one in the family who speaks with a Texas accent.

Tragic, really.
