Here are a few possible answers:

Some recent Chev/GMtrucks - and maybe some others, have a temporary disable. Engine running, push DOME OVERRIDE button 4 time within 6 seconds; and if you did it right, it will beep, and the DRLs will be disabled, until you turn the truck off. Half-assed, but better than nothing.

GM 98 full size truck - (probably same for 96-99 C/K). There is a cigarette pack sized finned black heat sink (this is a double diode, 2 volt drop) located near the steering column. Unplug the 2 wire connector, this will remove DRL on any GM car using low beam DRL. (Will not defeat the auto ON)

GM fullsize trucks 96-98' - At the bottom of the dash about where your right knee is there is a small bulge. Under this bulge is a 2" square finned relay (actually a 2volt drop diode) Use pliers to bend retaining bracket. Remove and unplug.

Pull the fuse labeled DRL for "Daytime Running Lights" it is located in the fuse panel between the drivers side door and the dash.

I used to click the parking brake one click and it would turn them off without engaging the brake or brake light. The truck I have now I pulled the fuse for it. I don't know if you can do that. I know the lights are for safety but I sometimes don't want to be seen....

Only 2 ways, either pull the fuse (I think it's #14 inside the drivers door, but read the schematic) or put the emergency brake on a notch.
I don't know why you want to disable them, they're proven to help reduce accidents.

I hate those fu__in' things. Push the parking brake pedal down one click. That'll shut 'em off and not apply the brakes. Try it, you'll see. And next time, buy a Ford.

Since they use separate bulbs from regular headlights on almost all vehicles, simply remove the wires from the bulbs to keep them from coming on.
