Can I remove my name as a secondary holder from my husband's credit cards, credit union accounts? My husband include me with his Credit Union Account because his salary directly deposit with the account. But I found out that he always loan and a lot of debt and we don't have savings from it. So I want to know if I can call the Credit Union Bank and have my name remove as a secondary holder. Because I didn't know almost from that account he never show me the monthly account summary. I just once saw it this month that we are negative balance and have more debt than savings

It probably isn't that simple. As his wife and depending on what state you live in, matrimonial property law kicks in and you're still into it for 50%..
Maybe see a lawyer first and learn what the law is in your state. The lawyer will also be able to advise you on what your options are.

The only way you could legally have your name removed is if he put your name on the accounts without your permission. You almost always have to sign something in order for your name to be on an account....especially with a bank or credit union. If you didn't sign anything, then you shouldn't have any problem. The credit cards, however, are not the same. A signature is not always required.

Yes you can, your probably better off calling each on individuallyl however. and be ready to send it a written letter stating the fact you want to be off. I would go so far to get them to confirm by mail that it has been removed as well. As some representatives don't follow the procedures correctly or may be in a hurry to take the next call. Depends if you get a person who is deligent in there work and takes it serious or a joe blow who goes to the next caller. to play it safe ask for a confirmation letter to be mailed to you stating it has been done.

It would best if you go to the credit union and talk to the accounting dept.

Relax.

Either you're going to stay with him or you're not.

If you are, it doesn't matter if you're name is on it or not.

If you're not, a divorce decree will decide who is responsible for what. It won't matter if your name is on it before then or not.
