It says "graph using intercepts."

Can someone help me do the first problem? Give me steps, and I'll be able to do the rest of the questions.

How do I change this?

y - 2x = 5

I got y = 5, and x = -2.5.

Find the X intercept by setting Y = 0

x-2 = 0
x = 2

Find the Y intercept by setting X = 0

y = 0-2
y = -2

So the two points to plot are (0,-2) and (2,0)
Then connect those points with a line

Basicly, an intercept is where the line crosses the axis. So the "x-intercept" is the point that the line crosses the x-axis, and the "y-intercept" is the place where the line crosses the y-axis. This being said, to solve each problem, replace x with 0 and solve for y, and then replace y with 0 and solve for x.

y = x - 2 ... replace x with 0 gives you ... y = -2. So, the x-intercept is the point (0, -2). Replacing y with 0 gives you x = 2 (after you solve for x), which makes the y-intercept the point (2, 0).

I hope this helps you!

a million. the intercepts are whilst x = 0 and y = 0 so, whilst x= 0: 10(0) + 7y = 210 7y = 210, y = 30 and whilst y=0: 10x + 7(0) = 210 10x = 210, x = 21. consequently the two factors you prefer are (0,30) and (21,0) 2. x-2y = 6 and -x+3y=-6 whilst x-2y = 6 then x = (6+2y) replace for x in the 2d equation: -(6+2y) + 3y = -6 -6 - 2y + 3y = -6 -2y + 3y = 0 y = 0 so x= 6 and y = 0

You need to find the y intercept and the x intercept. To find the y - inter substitute x = 0. To find the x - inter , substitute y= 0.

You can find the y-intercept by substituting 0 for x and solving for y. Likewise you can find the x-intercept by substituting 0 for y and solving for x.

y=mx+b
y- y intercept
m=slope- (rise over run)
x- x intercept
b = y intercept
so y=x-2
b=2
Here the slope is an understood 1 (1/1)
so graph the y, then use the slope for the other point (x)

make x equal zero...gives y intercept then do the same for y to get the x intercept...simple as pie
