A good website for trying to find the meaning of any song is http://www.songfacts.com/
I searched Comfortably Numb and found this: "Roger Waters wrote the lyrics. While many people thought the song is about drugs, Waters claims it is not. The lyrics are about what he felt like as a child when he was sick with a fever. As an adult, he got that feeling again sometimes, entering a state of delirium, where he felt detached from reality." Hope I was of some help to you. -Corey

An educated guess would be that he was high and the message is that he is comfortably numb when under the influence of some kind of drug.

Well acid did Syd in his grip on reality and if you read about Pink Floyd you find it is entirely about his slip into the void of weightless insanity along with the psycho-stabilizing drugs he was required to get his head stabilized somewhat. Gilmore said he always thinks of Syd when playing that song.

My interpretation is that they are singing about the masses of western civilization's people who become "comfortably numb" to the chaos and lack of serenity of modern urban life in any number of fashions, whether thru booze, drugs, modern hobbies like TV, movies, the Internet, anything that prevents us from feeling our emotions, because western civilization programs us to ignore our emotions.

Not sure what the message is but it was written about Syd Barret who did far too many drugs and lost the plot

No message. It is Pink having a nervous breakdown because he lived such a screwed up life and he just figured it out.

it's about either roger waters or syd barrett, who got their doctor to prescribe pain killers, which made his entire body numb, so essentially... it's about his experience with such drug. That's why there is "there is no pain, you are receding" line... or at least that's why i've heard

I think the song is about Waters and some kind of childhood sickness, or so I've heard.

It is about cocain. Cocain makes people feel numb unlike any other drugs.
