My friend has a problem with lying and told her to stop becasue she is going to get hurt, her friends might not trust her anymore. I was trying to be honest with her and tell her that she needs to not lie. what can i do to help her start to tell the truth?

Lying is always driven by fear of rejection, disappointment, punishment, etc. So, to help someone stop lying you need to do things to address his or her underlying fears. To begin with, encourage your friend to be more honest and truth, but then take steps to be accepting of what she says. Listen to what she says, see her point of view, and don't be judgmental. And when she tells you something that you don't really want to hear (i.e., cause truth does hurt sometimes), don't overreact or punish her for being honest. talk to them about it.
if it is a stupid lie than tell them you know they are lying.
if they are lying to get away from you, talk to them and ask if they dont want to be friends anymore
maybe you and the person are just seeing to much of each other

sumtimes you cant make dem stop cuz sumtimes dats jus how dey are..and i hate people dat lie alot cuz den wen dey actually are sayin tha truth bout sumtin den i might jus not believe dem..you should tell dem to stop lyin or ur never goin to be able to believe dem again and if dat dont work jus dont talk to dem

you can never get someone to stop lying. just warn them that you will not stay around someone who you can not trust. if they keep lying, just drop them. it's hard i just "dropped" one of my best friends, but, it was worth it. i now have WAY less drama in my life. if you are important to them, they will stop.

You can't. You could just just not beleive anything they say...ever. And not trust them...ever. They might get the hint(but don't hold your breath).
