I'm writing an article about the recent report which revealed British adults are scared of teenagers. I am hoping to write a feature from the teenagers point of view on the negative press they receive and how they feel about it and who they think is responsible for creating this view. I am hoping to get in contact with teenagers who would be willing to help me with this. Also i would appreciate any information from those who work with young people and whether they feel these stereotypes created by the media mean teenagers have to live up their reputation. I am hoping to investigate whether teenagers are scared of their own peers and if they feel a need to protect themselves.

i'm 17, i'm not afraid of my peers, most of the teenagers you see out there looking threatening are doing only that, looking threatening. If you smile at them or say hi, they usually smile, say hi or nod their heads back. They are just trying to keep up an image, though i think that is actually becoming less nowadays, teenagers are getting sick of that portrayal. Thats my opinion anyway.

I think teenagers think that they know everything. They are obbsessed with myspace. They try to be different. The girls dress like little sluts. When I was that age, I was wearing sweaters with unicorns and stars on them to school, not midriff bearing halter tops and mini skirts. Teenyboppers have to wear Abercrombie and Fitch, Hollister, etc. When I go to the library to look up a book I would like to order, I don't want to have to wait for some emo kid who thinks their life sucks posting new pictures of themselves holding their camera above their head for the typical cliche "myspace" photo.

My experience around most teenagers are, disrespectful, low self esteem, not willing to sacrifice now for a better future, cry babies, not interested in history( recent that is) as to why things are the way they are, no manors, vulgar, not interested in anyone or things other than themselves..
