I want to buy a guitar as a gift for someone but being musically challenged I don't know what I should look for. What is the price range for a decent guitar and at the same time what qualifies as decent? All I know is that it should be acoustic and thats is the extent of it.

Everything depends on the level of that person as a guitar player. If the person is a beginner, a Yamaha beginner set should do. It will cost you less than $200. If the person is more advanced and you want to surprise them, look for Ibanez and Ovation. Fender also has some interesting acoustic guitars. Prices can go from $200 to whatever you can imagine. If I were you, I will check a couple of internet stores before going to the store. Look at guitarcenter.com since they have a very large selection.

Too heavy huh? Well let's have a look at... Epiphone SG (knock off of the Gibson SG) is lighter... Thing is although each and every guitar has one other sound... You can be utilized to the sound of the Les Paul and now not liek the "greater tone" of the SG... You would get might be a Fender Strat off of ebay for that cost... Any case, well success and rock difficult!
