I have a girl friend who is having a problem. Her boyfriend (they are both adults) had to move across the country for work. He asked her to go with him. After much discussion she agreed. The agreement was that they would continue with their relationship. Now they live together and he is a cold fish. She is devastated. She wants to leave and feels he should pay her moving expenses. She can't afford to move. Should he pay?

No. The parties are not married nor are they common law anything. He's not obligated to pay for her way home. He needs to ensure that she doesn't go psycho and throw him out of the residence. If that happens, then he may have to pay relocation fees just to get her out of his hair.

BTW, like the screen name and the resemblance to Melody Thomas Scott.

if they BOTH agreed to move across the country, then no. it's not necessary for him to pay her back for moving expenses. she shouldn't have agreed to move there with him. so its not his problem that she wants her money back just because HE is acting like a jerk or WHATEVER the heck 'cold fish' means. that's just HER fault for not knowing that he was going to be a 'cold fish' when they moved there.

She's a big girl and choose to go with him so I see no need for him to pay to move her back. It was her decision to go. He didn't force her into it. She needs to find a job(if she hasn't already) and save so much money out of each check for her moving expenses. Or talk to her parents and see if they would lend her the money.

No, I don't think he should pay. She made the choice to go. She is making the choice to leave. That is no way is his responsibility.

No, he should not pay. Ultimately it was her decision to move there. She is grown, she got her self in it.

she can't expect a man to pay for her not being happy. if she wants to leave, she should have to pay herself.
