Bryan Regan's whole standup act is based on the premise that he did terribly in school. There is one example of someone who claims that he did not do really good.

To be a long-lasting funny comedian you have to be pretty smart and well read. You have to be aware of the society around you and able to tie that knowledge into something funny for your audience.

I have noticed that also. I think celebrities in general did fairly well in school/graduated with honors
