It's now on an ad for a new video game. Some of the lyrics are something about worn out places and worn out faces?

I think the song you're talking about is "Mad World" by Gary Jules.

It was also in the movie Donnie Darko

The lyrics are:

All around me are familiar faces
Worn out places
Worn out faces
Bright and early for the daily races
Going no where
Going no where
Their tears are filling up their glasses
No expression
No expression
Hide my head I wanna drown my sorrow
No tomorrow
No tomorrow
And I find I kind of funny
I find it kind of sad
The dreams in which I’m dying are the best I’ve ever had
I find it hard to tell you
I find it hard to take
When people run in circles its a very very
Mad world
Mad world
Children waiting for the day they feel good
Happy birthday
Happy birthday
And I feel the way that every child should
Sit and listen
Sit and listen
Went to school and I was very nervous
No one knew me
No one new me
Hello teacher tell me what’s my lesson
Look right through me
Look right through me
And I find I kind of funny
I find it kind of sad
The dreams in which I’m dying are the best I’ve ever had
I find it hard to tell you
I find it hard to take
When people run in circles its a very very
Mad world
Mad world
Enlarging your world
Mad world

It's called "Mad World". The remake by Michael Andrews came out in one of the episodes in CSI: Las Vegas. I don't know if the same version is on the ad for the video game you're talking about. I like the remake better than the original one.

I know exactly what you are talking about. It is the song that plays at the beginning of the one episode with the Asian guy and the taxi, and the first and last scenes of the movie are the tags on the toes, with the song playing. The name of that episode might actually be "Toe Tags". I do not know who the artist is, but the Song is called "Mad World". The episode is a couple of seasons old, but the rerun was on the other day, so the single has to be atleast a couple months old too.
