I don't think that Bobby Knight was out of line when he gave his player a slap. It is just like in football when the coach hits the player's helmet. It's not meant to hurt the player, it is to get the player to pay attention. Also, the player's parents were ok with it, so I think there was nothing wrong with the slap.

According to the latest versions from the talking heads or should I say media, there is little to the whole story. The parents are not even angry.

My only comment is I have never been a fan of Bobby Knight or any coach or human being that finds it necessary to use physical force to get their point across.
First off it is only a game. None of these sports events solve world problems, great intertainment but that is all. They are of little importance to anyone other than some adults who have never grown up.

Secondarily in most states it is a crime to touch someone else without their permission. It can be simple battery to assault, and the kid could have him arrested, as simple as that.

I would love to see that piece of garbage fired and sent home, he has had too many problems already.

I for one like Bobby Knight and generally support him whenever these situations come up. Personally I don't see it as being such a big deal. That's part of coaching.

There should be more coaches like bobby knight. Especially with the punk kids in the world today.

He wasn't completely in line, but the kid was not looking him in the eye. My 4 year old nephew looks me in the eye when I'm talking to him. It's a simple sign of respect. Instead of flipping his chin, coach Knight should have told the parents how carppy they are.

Yes but no. If you want to be a man and play B-Ball at Texas Tech take it, if not go to Notre dame.

In the old day..."Old School" Coaching, this would be acceptable. With today's younger people I can't imagine hitting a player as a form of attention getter would fly today. We live in a way too "lawsuite" of a society.
