I'm from Philly and I grew up on cheesesteaks (salt-pepper-ketchup). I know a good one when I come across it.

The best place in Beverly Hills is Philly Steak and Grill, on the SW corner of La Cienega and Olympic.

The closest thing I can get to a good cheesesteak is what they are hawking at Quizno's right now. They have tons of meat and that is a good thing.
Otherwise, there is this chain called "Steak Escape" and the nearest one to me is about an hour away. They have a fairly authentic philly cheesesteak. I even like their veggie one.

It's actually about 225 miles from where I live, but I've been there quite a few times: The White Horse Sub Shop in Atlantic City, NJ. It's been in the same location since I believe 1946.
