I have normal skin but every foundation I seem to use fades after a few hours and sinks into my skin.

You should definelty try a foundation primer. As a makeup artist, this is the best product in the world. Smashbox makes an entire line devoted to their Photo Finish Foundation Primers. You put it on before applying your foundation, letting it dry first. A primer will smooth out your skin for a flawless application. The different types are clear, green (for reducing redness), peach (ashiness). I would also suggest that after you're done applying all your makeup that you set your face with Bare Escentuals Mineral Veil. Its a finishing powder that absorbs any moisture and oil on your skin so your makeup will last long. It's completely transluscent and all natural. Good Luck and Have fun!

I like Prescriptives Virtual Matte and MAC Hyperreal. The cheap stuff from the drug store does not have enough pigment to last a long time. The key to a long lasting finish is the quality of the product, and with cosmetics, you definitely get what you pay for. That doesn't mean you have to spend a fortune--MAC is awesome and is very reasonably priced. Prescriptives is a bit more expensive and I don't like their color products, but they are known for their quality and variety of foundations. Apply it using a synthetic foundation brush as well--it allows for a more precise, even application and conserves product. It is way more sanitary than using your fingers or a sponge since you rinse it off after each use.

Your skin care regimen also affects how long your makeup will last. Make sure you are using quality products, and always cleanse, tone and moisturize before applying your foundation. If your makeup is still not lasting after following these tips, you will need to use a foundation primer.

maybe you need to look at 2 things, either it is your skin or the actual products that you are using. a drier skin will drink in a foundation as it is dehydrated and can cause it to look uneven and patchy, also if you don't exfoliate your skin too. the best foundations are definitely MAC. i am a professional makeup artist and they are the best i have used, they last all day on a shoot or show and there are many ranges to suit your skin type. visit a MAC store to get a colour test and foundation typing. i promise, you will never look back!

Try M.A.C Studio Fix, in a powder compact. First, apply a light moisturizer to your face, and then blot the powder over. It gives a surprisingly creamy finish, much better than foundations that clog skin.

I've been wearing Mary Kay for years and I love that it looks just as fresh at the end of the day as it did when I put it on in the morning. I recommend it to all my customers. It comes in 5 different formulas so you can pick the one that's best for you. Because of my career, I try new stuff that's out from time to time, but I always come back to my Mary Kay. It's the best.

Maybelline has to be the best! It stays on all night and you don't look like a clown with you foundation down your neck within hours, and it is not that expensive.

always apply face cream before foundation, even if you did earlier in the day. after a couple of minutes put foundation but do it in layers and not a large amount at once. i prefer Vichy Aéra Teint.

I like Revlon Colorstay. It lasts pretty long and I have oily skin. There's a formula for normal skin. But it's kinda thick so if you don't like thick stuff I wouldn't get it

use a loose translucent powder to set the foundation, by pressing the powder into the foundation, then brush off excess powder. this will set your foundation and will make it last much longer.

Try mineral makeup. It lasts all day even if you go to the gym but looks natural. Amazing! It is made from natural ingredients so is good for your skin.

puritycosmetics.co.uk is a good brand.
