I experience a very bad cold when I was pregnant with my first child

I have had colds beg. middle and end, plus sinus infections and the flu. (I have more than one kid.)

You'll be fine and this early the baby won't notice. Keep the fluids going, elevate your head a little to help you breath at night and avoid meds unless the doctor says to use them.

If your sinuses are all clogged and even a steamy shower doesn't help, try alternating hot and cold face cloths on your sinus areas and then blowing like crazy.

Good luck with the baby and I hope you feel better.

PS Here is a page from babycenter with info about cold meds.

I know lots of people do, but I didn't...actually, I might have done, but I didn't know I was pregnant until I was 5 and a half weeks gone...you found out early! How did you do that?!

The first cold I remember having in my pregnancy was the day after my 20 week, and it made me feel awful- I passed out in the dairy isle in Asda. I didn't like passing out in the fridge!

Of coarse. I am pregnant w/ my 3rd & had a cold & flu with each pregnancy prior to 12 weeks pregnancy. It really does suck though you can't take any medicine, if you get bad buy a cool mist humidifier, a bit costly but you will end up using it when the baby is born too

I just experienced a lot of congestion which is normal due to hormones. Sudafed was my friend. This is also the season for sickness. You can get sick just like everyone else. Just be careful of the cold medicines and make sure that your doctor clears them.

Yes with my first son I did. I was super sick and I was chugging Nyquil like it was going out of style too. I didnt know I was pregnant. I was really worried after that , but everything was fine. Its normal to get cold early and later in the pregnancy.

Sure, just because you are pregnant does not mean you are immune to getting colds or flus or anything you would normally get if you werent pregnant. It is normal, put more trust in your doc.

My wife did. We spoke with a doctor, and he said that there isn't really anything that can be done. That's true for all colds, being that it's a virus. He recommended waiting it out and said it would be okay to use Benedryl. We waited it out. She used Benedryl. My son was born on Sept. 3, 2006 at a whopping 9 lbs. 7 oz, and scored a 9 on his APGAR. He's been happy & healthy since. In fact, he's off the charts for weight and height at his age (above the 100th Percentile).
