Clinton left the white house with a surplus.
Bush has the highest deficit of all time.
Bush has diminished the office of the presidency with all his lies. One week before this past election he said he wouldn't fire Rumsfeld and the day after, no matter what they call it, Rumsfeld was gone. Bush lied about wmd's. He lied about being a uniter. And he makes one stupid and inarticulate statement after another. He is an embarassment in the world....just ask any foreigner. Bush is hated while Clinton is loved.

No, I don't.

It's utterly laughable to think that Bush's presidency has to be compared to a great one to appear "diminished." That's like withholding judgment on a passenger plane crash until you've seen a plane land safely.

The Bush Presidency is "diminished" because Bush is an ignorant, arrogant, smirking, stupid bastard who doesn't give a sh*t about the environment, the poor, or the middle class. His presidency is diminished because, to him, the U.S. Constitution -- which he swore to uphold and protect -- is an obstacle. It's diminished because we have a president who doesn't understand economics, diplomacy, or the term "sovereignty". It's diminished because we now have "freedom of speech ZONES". It's diminished because this administration has made up names to call U.S. citizens in order to "justify" holding them incommunicado without a trial or access to a lawyer. It's diminished because of signing statements justifying torture.

What on God's green earth does any of that have to do with whether Bill Clinton's administration was great, horrible, or mediocre?

LOL!!! CLINTON A GREAT PRESIDENT! That is hilarious! If he was president for 10 more years, the nation would probably consist of like 20 states because he sold the rest away to people who scared him. Bush's presidency is diminished because he is a warmonger, but at least he isn't a wimp!

Setting aside the merits of their presidencies, on which the users of this site will never agree, nobody could seriously dispute Clinton was one of the most articulate, intelligent and thoughtful presidents of the 20th century, while Bush lacks those qualities more than any of his predecessors in living memory. The contrast between the two is embarrassing to Bush. I would pay serious money to see those two in a debate.

NO. The Bush Presidency is diminished by his own wrongdoing, oversight, and grievous failure to serve We the People in an honest, and diplomatic way.

Absolutely not. I think most people and history will rate the President on their own merits. That is also the reason that "Bush's Presidency" is diminished. It is also the reason that history will show him to be one of the worst Presidents this country had to endure.

Bush looks good because he followed a real screw-up: Clinton.
Clinton was never a Real President. He was a big kid in a candy store.
Clinton never worked a day in his life. Lived off the taxpayers his total live.
STILL IS.
(Like Carter, Clinton will always be a joke. Have a cigar, eh??? You Yanks are funny.)

Bush had to do the work of sixteen years in eight because Clinton didn't do anything.

If Clinton would have done what he should have done Bush wouldn't have to be doing it now and it's possible we'd be back in the shape we were in when Clinton showed up.
