The strongest electromagnets are made using superconductors for MRI machines. Search on that and you will learn about them. The strongest permanent magents for consumer use are rare-earth magnets, which can be very strong, but some of them are cermets (ceramic-metal compounds) which makes them brittle.

The Strogest Magnetic. No, seriously, probably an electromagnet. It all depends on how much current is used to amplify it's capabilities.
