No, Bosnia is not a third world country. It is in many ways similar to other East-European countries. The Bosnian economy isn't doing too good since the war. There is high unemployment, little foreign investment and a lot of Bosnians need to work abroad. It's not as modern as Western Europe, but it's not at all primitive either. It's nothing like third world countries. There is still a lot of damage after the war, but people are slowly rebuilding/repairing. The Bosnian people (the muslims) are wonderful. The Bosnian landscape is truly beautiful too.
I've been to Bosnia and I enjoyed my stay there very much.

The population of a country--3rd world or 1st is not a problem concerning thier status. Stable governments, opportunity, and a fair legal system is what moves a country up the chain to first world status. after all--what constitutes a poor country today was the standard only a few hundred years ago--and somehow some of those countries moved up to the status of 1st world. The USA, Britain, Canada, South Korea, Japan, Germany, France and many others have had their standard of living enhanced without having to methodically kill off their children. However, Unstable governments and fighting amongst different factions have brought down many countries to 2nd and even third world status. Just look at Bosnia and Serbia. The OLYMPICS were held on Kosovo only two decades ago. Yet through war and it's instability---Kosovo became a horrible place to live.

No, people need to go there, see it for them selves and not say and spread around false rumors about things. I'm a Bosnian American and from my experience in Bosnia the currency are both marks and Euros and Bosnia also has tvs, playstations, cars, restaurants, amusement parks, cafés and so on. it's obviousley a well developed country if it has all these things. Take my word for it, I've been there and I am one.

If there wasn't a war, Bosnia&Hertzegovina (as all the rest countries participated to ex-Yugoslavia federation) could be much better than some members of EU. It is all about politics.
