During the early part of the twenteth century the government started building up the country by building the interstates, dames and the wealthy people started building skyscrapers.

Of course not by doing the same things but setting up projects throughout the country of some sort that benefits them and us.

Also I see tax breaks for the wealthy as a good thing because they will build industries which provides jobs. But if they are taxed to hard they will just sat on what they have.

If the government could work with them to help get the economy going without penalizing them for it that would help.

I feel we need to do something soon because China's not going to wait on us and I don't want to have to learn chinese to know what I'm eating for breakfast.

If this is a good idea what are some things the government could do to help get it going?

-We need better transit. This means cutting OPEC out of our budgets, from the Federal level down to the Individual level. The alternatives are fastly approaching, but, the government can make it happen faster:

--B-100 Biodiesel is 0% petroleum, and consumable by modern deisel engines. The fuel can be created from plants, and therefore increase our agricultural base, bringing closed farms back to the forefront of the backbone of America

--H2 vehicles will be able to give us a more oxygenated and humidified environment, with no flourocarbons. These vehicles run faster, quieter, and are healthier for us. There are surely other alternatives to petroleum oil.

-We need faith in ourselves. Taking a note from history, and re-instituting the CC Camps would put people in a job, and help them build something of lasting value in the nation. My grandfather helped to build firewatch towers and ranger stations for the CC Camps, and those in turn, helped prevent the spread of forrest fires.

-Our closest neighbors need to be our best defenders. By reaching out, and helping our neighbors in real, and meaningful ways, we can reduce the resentment against us, internationally.

The rich don't always invest their surplus income in ways that benefit more than themselves. That is why government-funded infrastructure projects produces more of a rise in the standard of living than private investments in offshore tax shelters. When Clinton tried to get some government funding for repair and refurbishing infrastructure, he was loudly dismissed, and few saw the wisdom of his way. That viaduct that fell down one fine day in the Midwest and killed several motorists gave no warning, but could have been refurbished 10 years ago and no one would have had to die for it.

the only flaw I see... is that the wealthy don't always re-invest their tax savings in companies that make jobs...

if you cut the taxes... they could do anything they want with it... some may do as you say, but there is no guarantee...

if they don't do as you say as much as you wish... then it will hurt more than it helps...

The interstate project in the early part of the century was one of the main accomplishments of liberal politicians! Thanks for bringing it up.
