Yes, we pay lots of taxes, blah blah blah, but we don't pay for our health insurance and if we suddenly found ourselves without a job we'd have our basic expenses covered for as long as we can prove to a case worker that we trying to get a new job.
Yes, people abuse it, but I'd rather that than have everyone live in fear of financial ruin from health problems or job redundancy.
And England has a great economy, I'm going to visit my family in America for Christmas and my pound will buy a hell of a lot of dollar!

Generally, as a society moves towards socialism and "free benefits", the economy grows weaker. One cannot give away what used to require work and then still expect people to work.

You give in taxes until it hurts. They , on the receiving end get tired of waiting for bigger and better benefits.....SOCIAL UNREST. Don't know about housing in NY and NJ.The economy as we know it is broken. And for what.
