Music's origins are definitely innate. Just look at all the repeating / rhythmic organic features of human existence (e.g. our heart beats, the never-ending rhythmic breathing, the sleep patterns, the repeating and symmetrical fingers and toes in our hands and feet, the vocal ability to reproduce complex identical sounds which by the way was the beginning of spoken language as well, the walking pattern of putting one foot in front of the other even when we run or slow down at random, the ability to make signals with our arms, legs, heads, eyebrows, etc., the ability to blink rhythmically, .....) Yes, music, language, and mathematics are all innate. Of course, as evolution shall have it, we started with something innate and mixed it with the environmental stimuli to take it to higher grounds of perfection.

I believe the sense of rhythm came from hearing the heart beat. The other sounds came from hearing things in nature.
