I am leaving my current job on the 15th of next month, and am moving back home and wanting to start a new job for the new year. So, I am currently searching for new jobs. Since I am not finished with my current job until almost a month from now, how far in advance should I begin applying for new jobs? Is now too early? What if they ask me when can I start?

When you are reading the job announcement, see if there is a "closing date". If the closing date is pretty far out in advance, then they will still have a selection and interviewing process to get through.

I would say if you are looking for city, county, state, or federal jobs to start now.

If you are looking for a private sector job, don't start applying until around December 10th.

You can start now as it will probably take you a while to find something that you want to do. Good luck with the job search.
