how difficult is it to find work as a make-up artist/designer?

Well depending on how long your willing to stick with it its not that hard. Start out small. Go to you favorite make up counter and fill out an application. Once you get that job the doors will be open wide! Each company has a small school and various trainings (product knowledge classes) they may even hold a company wide contest that can launch you into greatness. It just takes patience you have to be able to show that you are great.
