Running With Scissors by Augusten Burroughs. It chronicles his life with cold father/mad mother and subsequent adoption into the even weirder world of his mother's shrink and family. Some of the information in the book (which is an autobiography) is horiffic, but the author faces his past with humour and dignity. It's being made into a film at the moment starring Gwyneth Paltrow which I bet won't be as good as the book. I'll still go and see it though!

If you're a girl and you like regular girl stuff, I guarentee you will absolutely fall in LOVE with the book series 'Gossip Girls'. There's 10 books so far...with more coming in May, too. They are absolutely delicious! It's about girls/boys growing up rich and New York, and they have the life! It's dramatic and funny and it's really cool. The author is Cecily Von Ziegesar.

If you're into more weird/fantasy stuff, try the Everworld series by K.A. Applegate. She's an amazing author. It's about 4 regular kids getting caught in a separte universe. It's quite interesting.

Hope it helped. =)
