San Pablo is a small little town about 20 mins from San Francisco. I grew up in San Pablo it's very quite but it is borderline Richmond Ca so be careful because there is alot of violence in Richmond. San Pablo is made up of small one level homes mostly families. There really is not too much in San Pablo besides the Casino but need not worry because it's only 20 min from San Francisco, 5 minutes from Pinole & Richmond which have a huge shopping plaza with tons of Stores and Grocery stores, Hilltop Mall, and Target, Car Dealers,Movie Theatres, Bookstores and much more. I live in Hercules which is also about 10 min from San Pablo. The San Pablo reservior is also very nice it has lakes where you can rent boats and BBQ & picnic. The whole area is great if you are family oriented. But if your like me you will be headed to san francisco everyday. And don't expect to find any jobs in san pablo check the surrounding areas most good jobs are in San Francisco that's where I'm from. Hope this helps.

San Pablo is a nice little town. Yes, it is near richmond but san pablo is safe. There is a nice little indian casino in the townbut you have to be 21 to gamble there. There is a nice hotel there. San Pablo is tucked into the hills. It is a short distance from Berkeley; about 10mins when there's no traffic. 20 mins to Oakland, About 30 minutes from San Francisco, and or 1.5 hrs from Sacramento.
When there is a commute hour, add about 10-15 mins.
My grandfather lived in a quiet part of richmond near san pablo's border for 50 years and loved it.
