I am writing a paper and would like to conduct a non-scientific poll of Americans only, asking "What is the most important American value?".

The paragraph the results will be entered in begins with...
For simplification purposes, values will be defined as ethical beliefs and commonplace ideologies. Some America's most cherished values are (in no order) the importance of freedom, education, religion, and democracy.

I will vote the first answer that isn't included above as best answer.

After living in America for 59 years TGIF has to be its most shared cultural value, to my way of thinking. Oh by the way, if its an unfamiliar acronym, Its Thank God Its Friday. Everybody looks forward to their weekends.

Beileive it or not. Compared to other nations Tolerance
Tolerance of other peoples beleifs and veiwpoints. we have peacfull elections and live in peace with the most diverse culture on earth and are relativily peacfull.
So I would say tolerance.

Well after GOD definitely my wife and kids then closeness of family relations and good neighbors.

i think its religion because so amny of us are religious and alot more need to be.
