It's inherent in the idea of tradition and conformity, which are strong conservative values.
The conservative model advocates slow change, conformity and respect for doing things the same way they had been done. They oppose radical shifts, and fringe or alternative lifestyles, because those tend to be (as they believe) destablizing influences.
They also tend to believe that groups make decisions better than individuals, and that people should not be allowed to make choices that are harmful. It's a very parental attitude.

I'm pro-choice, to a point, but where in the hell does this "right to choose" come from? Did I miss something here? Is this in the Bill of Rights? Is it an amendment to the Constitution? Why do American women have the right to kill their babies? Again, I'm pro-choice, but let's not sugar coat the issue. More than a million babies are murdered in this country every year so that people don't have to change their lifestyles. (I find it very hard to believe that all abortions in this country are due to rape, incest, etc.)
Gay marriage - again, where is that listed as a "right"? Since so many Americans are against gay marriage, aren't you violating their rights?
As for privacy, honey, in this day and age, privacy is just an illusion. Doesn't matter who is in power - that's just a fact these days. If someone really wants to know information about you, they'll get it - legally or not.
Why are Democrats so intolerant? I see Christianity under attack on a regular basis - what happened to the "right" to worship as one sees fit? I have had people on the left tell me many, many times that I'm stupid for not agreeing with them. How about freedom of speech? The leftist groups at Ivy League schools obviously don't believe in freedom of speech, yet that right IS granted us - see the First Amendment.
Stupidity goes both ways, so please quit acting like you have some sort of moral high ground.

Well, its not their rights. None of them are gay, or even happy.
They never say anything they wouldn't want Bush to hear, and they know why. They never have abortions because they never have sex, and (see first sentence) thats why they aren't happy.
