Not just the US, there are also cases against UK soldiers.
I'm admittedly pro-Islam, nevertheless, I don't accept what Sadam Hussein did during his time as Iraqi head of state. However, this is no reason for allowing so-called 'civilised' countries to go 'Scott-free'.
Violators, and those who ordered and/or turned a blind eye to such actions should be brought before the courts and be held responsible for the infrignements which they either perpetrated or for which they take the ultimate responsibility.

Hey speedfreak, how old are you? Over 80? You know about the Japanese treatment of POW's in WWII first hand?
Maybe the Iraqia could have handled it themselves. I don't remember anybody asking the US and UK to march in. The present mess was not of their own creating.

There never was a time when human rights activist made a difference except for political purpose. You have to realize that war is war.

It really doesn't matter if you are pro-Islam, it matters whether you are pro-fanatical islam. If that's the case I suspect you're question would be irrelevant to most.

Torture has always been a part of war. When the so called rear echelons get a hold of a prisoner they've already been tortured worse than they will be in any CIA back room. Think about it! You're in the trenches shooting at someone trying to kill you, the circumstances during an attack or ambush are ambiguous at best. One thing is for sure and won't change in the near future. When someone has been trying to kill you and you capture them, They might as well be hung by their ears!
Most of our military units will take out their fears, disgust, anger, and hate for where they are at, on the guy the just captured... That's probably the only real torture we are (US) engaging in.

On the other hand, fanatical islam simply cuts the head off and goes on with another day or they dig the mass graves.

The injustices you speak of would be better aimed at places like Darfur and N. Korea where the people are truly tortured to death!

Their is no good reason for torture. Just because their are brutal monsters in the world doesn't mean we have to become just like them. Which seems to be the argument. I thought we learned this during WW II.

Any information obtained from torture is highly suspect. People will say anything under duress, even outright lies. To allow torture to get information is ultimately going to cost us precious time and money, as we act on information that is inaccurate. I thought we learned this during the Inquisition and the witch trials.

I guess we're going to have to learn some history lessons over again.

There is no excuse for torture and concentration camps and of course we do know that America has tortured prisoners to death, This is why America has lost respect and standing in the world. I understand that the Americans only allow water torture to be used on prisoners now. Americans on this forum keep referring to their soldiers getting their heads chopped off, I think they want to forget that their army has blown Baghdad out of existence dropped cluster bombs all over Iraq, caused over 700000 thousand Iraqis deaths, and probably another 7000000 are walking about with no limbs, stole Iraqi oil, forced the Iraqis to re flood areas of rivers so that Israel can draw water, withdrawn democracy from the Iraqi people and trying to force them to accept a puppet government and in turn forced a civil war and so on.

I have an idea, let Iraqis take care of (and abuse) themselves. Then they have only themselves to blame and we don't have to hear any more whining from Arabs who dropped their Koran in the dirt, or did not have their dietary needs met to their satisfaction, however, they claim misteatment.

Tehy should have been a POW of the Japanese during WWII if they want to know what ral torture is like.

What a load of B.S.

I dont think most people believe it is acceptable in general. However it is understandable that people have less qualms when actions are committed againt persons who behead innocent civilians on the internet, torture and kill their own kind for giving the information willingly that could save many lives, instead of crying when they have to strip naked and take pictures.

You're right - in response to them beheading Americans, we should...what? Hug them into submission? Try to explain that we really DO understand why they hide behind women and children? Tell them that it's okay to hide in mosques and even better when they attack us from the mosques?

Do you really think an American (or British, or Canadian) POW will be treated as kindly by their captors as the US is treating the detainees in Gitmo? Will the Americans be given a Bible or a Torah if requested? Will the "freedom fighters" cater to their captive's religious dietary needs, if any? Do you think Americans captured by Islamic fanatics will gain weight during their captivity?

If American, British, or any Allied soldier commits a crime, he or she should certainly be held accountable. But until the other side learns to fight like men and not like lying, sniveling cowards, spare us the self-righteousness. I stand behind my troops and my country.

"Torture." We have not killed anyone by torturing them to death as has the enemy in this war! A war that many Iraq's are extremely grateful we have come and made it possible for them to vote, the women are allowed to go to school, they are not being suppressed by Muslim extremists. We are the good guys. The weak, cowardly Americans in this country are the ones who blame our governement. It is safer then stepping up to the plate and being counted as a brave American willing to defend the principles our Country has stood for from the very beginning.

Well because the U-S-A does whatever the @#$% it feels like, and answers to no one, thats why.
If other torture, it's a crime.
If we torture, well because we have the @#$%^&* right to do it.
We torture in Korea, in Vietnam, in Irak, in Kuwait, in Cuba, even in our oun country.
The United Nations Organization and The Geneva War Crimes Tribunal is just a big fat @#$%^&* joke.
I personaly am against tortures, but the truth is that the U-S-A tortures with an excuse and the @#$%^&* power to do whatever they feel like @#$%^&* doing to anyone anywere.

Their torture! You certainly cannot be serious.Torture in the Middle East is common place. You only have to see the reaction of the people when they have slaughtered others. They rejoice! They have no respect for human life whatsoever! But as is usual its all one sided. Why is it acceptable for them to abuse human rights, but for no-one else?Answer me that! Double standards?I would rethink your question if I were you!! Its rather hypercritical.
