People keep saying about daylight saving but why can't you just let the world keep spinning, why do you have to alter time?

Because some people cannot get up at the proper time of day to do their work they do not understand those who do.

There is the same number of hours of daylight either side of noon so adjust your day to suit that. There is no need to have British Summer Time, Daylight Saving Time, etc so stick to the natural time for your area of the world. That means GMT in the UK

If you're someone who has to get up early (most people who work 9-5 for instance... But particularly people in agriculture who have to be up before dawn to care for their livestock) you really need and value the early hours of daylight. Daylight Saving Time (or Greenwich Meantime, if you're in the UK) is designed to help people get the most of all possible daylight, while still keeping vaguely normal hours. This is because days are shorter in winter and daylight is valuable.

Anyway, it's not time that's altered, it's the national measurement of time. Nothing's going to alter time itself. When one of the Roman Emperors decided to change the way the calendar worked (giving us our current system of months), it was necessary to remove 15 days from the calendar. The peasants who didn't understand that this was just changing the representation of time, staged a revolt, shouting 'give us back our fifteen days!'

the reason for daylight saving time is daylight. at some time of the year the sun shines longer so in some countries they set forward the clock by an hour to take advantage of the longer daylight. this means savings in energy since lights will be on later than usual.

At the time of war, it was better to put the clock one hour ahead because then, at night, you wouldn't need to turn on the lights at dinner time and such. There's your "saving"! Why we STILL do it, I don't know though.

I know really, I asked my science teacher that and he said that he wondered that same thing and looked it up. he said the reason why we have to turn our clocks back is cuz of the people from WAY BACK WHEN, they were getting sick of seeing the same times everyday--er--somethin'. so they finally decided to turn their clocks back just to see what would happen.
