I got the perimeter to be eight.. did I do it right?

If I didn't do it right could someone please explain how they got their answer?

Actually, you did do it correctly. The largest triangle has side lengths of 3. This means the large base of the blue area is 3. Because the smallest triangle has side lengths of 1, the small base of the blue area is 1. The other two sides are 3-1=2. 1+2+2+3=8.

Another way of thinking about it is to realize that the largest triangle has a perimeter of 9. When you chop off the smallest triangle, you are removing two and replacing it with one. The result is 9-1=8.

It is an isosceles triangle, so all three sides are the same. So the perimeter is 9.
