it is possible to recut the diamond but doing so will remove parts of the diamond in turn lowing its value.
leave the diamond alone and just have all diamonds and jewels removed from the ring, sell some, keep some, keep all...have the ring itself melted down and then have a new custom ring made. Or just have the jewels reset into a different band.

The diamond dictates its shape not the person cutting it. Raw diamonds are looked at & then seperated by the shapes they will be cut into based on it natural shape & flaws. You can have a 100 carot raw diamond that will only be 20 after it is cut. So is it possible to hack it up? Well yes it is. Is it a good idea to try to make a tin can out of paper? Prolly not.

thank you to decide for asking those questions! lots of folk merely get brainwashed into procuring a "extreme grade" merely with the aid of fact. So this is the respond on your question that no person needs you to be attentive to: No! you may not tell the version between 2 grades usually with your bare eye. This grading stuff turns into significant once you're procuring a stone as an investment. that's a actuality that even experienced gemologists can not tell the version between 3 shade grades of a diamond as quickly because it is been set. the place your eye will word something is in the flicker. Sparkle is laid low with the diamond's decrease and readability. an acceptable decrease, IF diamond will shoot out rainbows and sparkle extra desirable than a sturdy decrease VS diamond. yet the two nevertheless sparkle. i think of a center grade to extreme center grade provides you with your acceptable bang on your dollar. examine the webpages under. there is plenty on diamonds and a cool one on engagement rings too.

they can cut into different shapes, but you have to lose diamond (you're cutting it right?)
the least diamond would be lost if you take it somewhere with a laser cutter, as its more precise than anything else.

It can be recut, but it will depend on the quality of the gem, the size of it, any flaws.
You would be better just getting the same stone put in a more modern setting.
