If i brought a can opener to school would it be considered a 'weapon'?

If it's an old fashioned can opener wherein there's a sharp pointed
thing to puncture the can it is considered a deadly weapon. But if it is the modern one with gears to rotate the can the sharp part is well covered, it may never be considered a deadly weapon.
Like my leatherman i used to show the long nose tool part of it but X'ray revealed the knife in it and so I have to surrender to airport authorities or put it in my luggage,not in hand carry one.

I would say only if you use it as a weapon. It is the intent of carrying it. Are you bringing it for cooking class or to hurt someone? I suggest you do not use the can opener as a weapon though. You may get canned from school.

If you keep the can opener for a good reason, to open cans. If you would take the can open for other reason's they could consider it a weapon. Odd question. How embarassing to be caught with a can opener.

... just about anything can "become" a weapon; pens, a broomstick, a plastic lunch tray, a text book, I saw someone smack a guy with a computer mouse once. Unless you plan on using this can opener as a weapon then how would anyone even find out that you have it?

Depends on where. I had a kid with a slingshot and the administration decided it wasn't a weapon.

I wouldn't think so especially if it's for like a cooking project, but I would check with your teacher/principal to be sure.

it very well possiable that it could be, you could stab and injure or kill someone with it if it was stabbed in the right place, i think it could go either way
