Are you near or far apart? Is she active or bed-ridden? Can she have sweets? Will she be able/capable of redeeming a gift card? Can she see well? .. maybe a magazine with good photos~there are a couple out there that don't even have advertisements in them!! So much depends on how she spends her time .. is there a way to spend some time together? with a call? with a visit? get DVD/tape from Library and watch it on her TV with her? take a pizza along? or a milkshake? Good Luck .. hope you find something that makes you Happy too!!

I'm nearly 60, and at this point I really don't value physical possessions as much as I do spending time with my family - brother, sisters, kids. Why don't you get her tickets to something you and she can do together? The gift of time is more important to older people.
