Not sure how far back you wish to go, but here are my recommendations.
Laura- 1944, is the ultimate classic with more twists than a spiral staircase.
The Thin Man- classy, comedic and a whodunit all in one. Can't go wrong.
The Maltese Falcon- Sam Spade masterpiece!
Good luck in your decision.

Scream three is really good. I would reccomend it. And the Texas Chainsaw Massacre, the new version. Not really a whodunit movie but certianly a thriller!

The Thin Man is very good but my all-time favorite is a film that probably no one has heard of. Beyond a Reasonable Doubt, starring Dana Andrews. You won't be disappointed.

What Lies Beneath starring Harrison Ford and Michelle Pfeifer. Very tense and suspenseful. A very good film.
