People tell you things in an attempt to alter what you're thinking, it may be that they don't want to lose you or they see your move as like a death from their life and that's to hard for them to deal with, it could be that they think you are abandoning them. When planning your move firstly think of all the positives and have them listed in your head as a reference, then add things like with mail, email, phone calls you'll think I'm next door and remember the plane flies both ways. It reassures your loved ones that you are not abandoning them. Life is to be lived and enjoyed follow your dreams.

People are not usually supportive of big leaps like that. Sometimes it's because they are genuinely worried about you, or sometimes it’s just a form of jealousy (you want to do something they never could).
Yes you can do it if you want to. Yes there are risks and rewards but make sure it’s something you really want to do.
If you’re not serious, making any big move unprepared and with no follow through can go dreadful.

Yes, I agree. I think it more the people not wanting you to leave than you not being able to. Do your homework, get something lined up. It can happen.
