Didn't new wave die with television and blondie. They'll be quoting Lester Bangs next if we're not careful.

Kill your radio man.
American music has a lot to offer....but you'll have to dig deeper than K-whatever-FM or MTV.

As a side note....there actually is a modern referance to Lester Bangs in a song......

Baltimore punks, The Slumlords, recorded a track entitled "Lester Bangs" on their 2006 CD entitled "On The Stremph". Lyricist Jeff Perlin sings "Lester Bangs be glad you're dead, cause all this sh*t we're being fed..." in a song that focuses on today's phony, convoluted music industry.......

Because record execs tell radio stations and MTV what bands to play. Radio and MTV play same bands over and over and over, and so young, brainless consumer thinks band x is actually a good band.

It's not the good bands, nor the innovative bands, that make it big. It's the bands that record execs can milk for profits. That is why music biz is in such a mess. If more consumers would think for themselves instead of following the herd, the radio would be a much better place.

I agree. Nothing's original anymore. The retro crap and the emo kids, it really makes me stick to what I've always liked and only a few new things. Though I think The Strokes are better than The Killers, they're making me sick.

All types of music keep coming back and popping off again.
lets face it, how hard is it now to be completely original
punk happened in the 1970s then bands like nofx and snuff,
and snfu from the states kicked it off again in the 1990s.
most bands usually have an influence from the past
