I have a Mac iBook G4 laptop, and it's white and boring, and some of the key lettering is rubbing off.

Has anyone painted their laptop keys before?
What paint did you use?

What should I watch out for, in terms of not damaging the keys? I figured I'd carefully hand-paint them if there's no easy way to pop out the keyboard itself.....

IF you are going to do this (and I certainly don't recommend it), I would suggest nail polish as a paint. However, I do not have a Mac iBook so I am assuming it has the same type of keyboard as a PC, with the rigid plastic. If it is that soft rubber, you better check for a paint designed for rubber surfaces.

The key here is you have to make sure that you do not get any below the surface that may make the keys stick or stop them from "clicking" properly.

You should also keep in mind that no one who sees that keyboard afterward is likely to want to buy it in used condition from you, so I would only do it if the keyboard lettering is so badly worn that you can't tell which key is which.

I have used paint on my laptop keys and it helps for a week or so and then starts rubbing off on your fingers. What i think u should do is get letterd mini stickers for your keybored and that dose a great job and i havnt had to replase thoughs for about 2 years or so.
