On a DVD for The Mummy Brendan Fraser does a commentary and introduces Rachel Weisz as "Rachel Wize" wouldn't he know? I mean he worked with her on the film.

Her family name, Weisz, is pronounced "Vice."
Refused to change her name in the beginning of her career since she did not want to betray her family.

it is really pronounced "Vice" (but in america its pronounced "Wice")...i would know, i have a name simillar to that and people pronounce it wrong ALL the time! the 'w' sounds like a 'V'. the 'ei' makes a long 'i' sound because it's german. and the Z is silent!

'W' is pronounced as a 'V'. 'ei' together is pronounced as an 'i'.
(if it were 'ie' it is pronounced as an 'e') . The last letter in that 2 letter combination determines the sound of the pronunciation. English speakers would then pronounce it as Vicz.
