A typical babysitter will charge minimum wage, plus eats, and expect a tip, like a good waitperson would, at the end of the period. ~Now, the period, should be no more than 4 hours, if it is longer, then the sitter's justified in charging more; say $6.75-7.00.
Tipping still to be a natural expectation. ~AND, any portion of an hour, is rounded up to the next full hour~
As for petsitters, I have only employed one, in my experience, a girl who came over once a day, to put out food for my cat, who stayed outdoors. I gave her $25.00, for 4 days (or wuz it 5??)
She did not have to come inside, nor did she have to walk my cat, only to put out the food. I provided plastic forks, cans of food, and a trashbag, for the garbage, as well as paper plates, for cleanliness.
Never have needed a house sitter, as I live in the rural part of Oklahoma.
I hope this helps, Kitties and S.T.!!
(and btw, I read your profile~~ intriguing and well written!)

i got paid 120 every 2 weeks. it was a rip off though because i watched 2 boys for 48 hrs a week and only made 60 bucks. id say about 3 an hour per kid is a good rate.

I pay $17 for a 30 minute puppy sitting bypass to for my 2 cats. My puppy sitter tests up on my abode, takes interior the mail, trash cans, and so on. and waters my plant life to boot to looking after my cats. i don't have teenagers so I have no theory what i could pay for a babysitter.
