If you refilled the cartidge yourself or you don't know who did then the chip may not have been reset. These (and HP) cartridges have a chip that needs to be cleared on a refill cartridge or they still register as being empty even when refilled.

You'll just have to buy the proper Epson ones and not refilled ones. those reconditioned cartridges can really damage your printer.

did you pull the tape off the bottom of the cartridge?
