if i tap into someone elses wifi can i use my pda to make phone calls using skype or something like that. free calls as long as you can find an open system

Yes, that's exactly the sort of caper I'd be interested in too.

BTW, Skype isn't the only Voip client out there, as others have mentioned, but they are doing crazy offers on free calls at the moment so it's worth a try with Skype to get started.

Yes, but you need a fair signal for it to work...Also, remember, if you do anything "tricky", though you are not on your own wifi network, your account can still be traced through skype or whatever service you use. I use my Vonage softphone via SJPhone on my ipaq when I hit StarBucks. I have had some slight voice quality issues using it via EDGE...

Yes, x51v has very high spec compare to the bare minimum for using a VoIP session.
