have a laptop that just broke down b/c the screen no longer works and repairing it will cost as much as buying a new one. I'm a high school student and I'm getting a job so, price won't really matter. Though I prefer to stay around the $1000s
This is what I need:
*no problems with screens
*good memory
*don't really care for battery life
*amazing graphics and the whole DVD/CD thing
*capability to play movies, lots of music
*one of those security things that read ur fingerprint (optional)
* and good warranty
Also, what are all the adapters for and which are the most useful? Thanks!!

buy any hp dual processor laptop you can get good one for 1000 dollars. i would recommend buying it from circuit city/compusa. they will have good sale on thanksgiving. hp laptops have this cool feature called quick play, you can watch movies, enjoy music on your laptop without loading windows and they have a remote control so they are just like DVD players

So a quick fix could be to buy a monitor - can get a cheap one for sub 100 dollars and use it. Plug this in and you can continue to use your laptop although it won't be very portable but you can at least get the files you want off the machine.

Then check out dell.com or HP.com - I have no preference but they seem to be the best. They have great tools on their sites where you just tell them what you want.

Also - not the most ethical but after your laptop arrives you could always return the monitor to the store you bought it from. Just a thought.

laptops now are so loaded that usually they are oftentimes over kill for what you want. even as not some thing is incorrect with this now and again human beings want one which is low-cost. i'd probable bypass right into a pc keep and purchase the most inexpensive pc that looks reliable with a minimum of 160GB of harddisk area, 2GB of memory if utilizing vista and in case you want to bypass low-cost attempt utilizing open place of work (that's a loose receive that feels like microsoft place of work)
