I was listening to the radio today and heard someone offering another person a Sprite several times. It didn't phase me at the time, but now I'm sitting at home drinking a Sprite, even though: (1) I usually go out of my way to avoid drinking Sprite, and (2) I had other choices (water, juice, Pepsi, Gingerale, etc.) It just struck me as odd that I suddenly wanted a Sprite. Anyway, I was just wondering whether anyone else really takes into account advertisiments for products, as well as product placement in TV shows and movies when choosing/buying products? (doesn't have to be limited to just foods)

Consciously or unconsciously we all "fall prey" to advertising. I find myself more inclined to buy products that have good catchy advertising. Some of the best television advertising in recent years, I think is Target Stores and Budweiser Beer. When I was young, in the '60's and '70's, I recall the magazine ads for the old Volkswagen Bugs and Volvo cars being especially good, and today, after 33 years in the automotive literature and collectibles business, I find these ads to be among the most popular with collectors!

We are bombarded with ads all day long, many times without realizing it. Companies spend outrageous amounts of money each year so they can advertise to you and you think about it subconsciencly. I have fallen victim before too.
