Why is it that they say their lifestyle/tastes are an expression of individuality.....yet they all dress basically the same etc??

The thick-soled boots, the baggy pants w/ tons of straps, the Bettie Page bangs, dyed-hair (typically magenta, red, green or blue) & all the other dark bling & accesories easily found at your local Hot Topic.

This is no stereotype. Just walk down the street on any given day & you'll see em.

To be fair, fashion-wise, it's no different than what the hippies did in the 60s & early 70s.

You've hit on one of the classic examples of "If it has to be explained to you, you wouldn't get it anyway."

Dude...if you like the style, go with it. They do. There's no such thing as "unique" or "individual" on a planet of 6 billion people. If you can think of it, it's been done a thousand times over already. Just find what you like and go with it. If that happens to coincide with a whole other group of people who like the same thing, just fine.
Not sure what your example is, but what's the point if it's inaccessible?

Besides, Bettie Page bangs are hot...especially blue!!!

Because the media doesn't portray Goth (or Kindergoth as that's who wears the baggy pants with straps, true Goths are Wiccan's and don't always have thick black make up on) as being one of the latest trends. I consider myself more of a Kindergoth, I'm not Wiccan, but I dress like that because I like it. I don't do it because every other supposed teenager dresses like that when they've had a bad upbringing.

For the record, I'm not a teenager, and my upbringing was excellent, there were no troubles in my family life, no fighting except for the typical sibling fighting, no disrupted marraiges, nothing of the sort! The only thing that was bad was my genes, my mother has PTSD and Severe Depression because of her childhood and gynetic factors, so unfortunately I got the gynectic factors which give myself a dark deep side that I don't tell to a lot of people.

The typical dress of Goths is seen everywhere, but as I mentioned...maybe that's because we like that style. If you think about it...Hey there's something wrong with you normal folk! You're all starting to dress like Audrey Hepburn and wear skinny jeans! What's wrong with you?? Do you see a difference? Because I sure as hell don't. It's what you like and what's in style in your world, and it's what we like and what happens to be in style in OUR WORLD! Yes you are stereotyping, I hope you rot in hell for saying or even thinking that. Go shove a cookie in your mouth and shut the hell up.
