The Honda is still the best. The 350 Rancher is the # 1 selling ATV in the country. The patented transverse mounted engine is easier to service, sits lower in the frame for a better center of gravity, and makes more power to the rear wheels, because it does not need a jack shaft to get power from the the crank to the rear wheels. In 07 the Rancher is upgraded to a 420 cc fuel injected engine, for even more power, and faster warm up time. Now granted the 350-420 does not have independent rear suspension. In most situations you will not miss it. IRS is available on the bigger Honda's, Yamaha 400-450-660, as well as many other Quads in the industry. Can Am , Artic Cat, Polaris, would be at the bottom of my list only because of parts, and dealership support , and availability. The majority of the industrial, ranchers, farmers, go with Honda due to longetivity, and reliability. But you must descide which Quad fits you the best. Check them all out and decide.

I would actually highly recomed the Yamaha Kodiak 400, now the Grizzly 400. I know you are probably thinking that this is not a 500 and that Yamaha makes a 450 Kodiak would it be closer to what I want. Well the truthof the matter is the 400 is more powerful and quicker, they are light "relativley" and very nimble. Push button 4 wheel drive and all the bells and whistles.
Second I would have to recomed the Can Am although they are not one of my favorite manufacturers they are starting to fine tune thier product and the performance speaks for its self.
I hope I've been of some help to you! Good Luck.

After, alot of shopping around, and comparison. I went with the Suzuki Vinson 500 4x4, with the manual transmission. They may not be the quickest ATV, but I really like the braking system. The front and rear brakes are separate systems, and for backing down a grade, or cornering at a higher speed, I like the brakes. I have never needed any more power, and the handling is great. I have put a winch on mine, and gonna order a snow plow shortly. I give the thumbs up all the way, for the Vinson.
