sitting up yet (at 7 months) and he also doesn't rollover from his belly to his back just from his back to his belly. I know preemies develop slower but he isn't small for being 7 months old, he is actually a big 7 month old especially for being a preemie of 3lbs 15oz. but i am getting worried about his development mildstones (they say a preemies brain is only as developed as what age he would be if he was born on time) Am i just getting worked up and worried for nothing?

My daughter was 8 weeks premature also, and she has done everything slower than other babies. She is now 2 and a half and still looks about 6 months behind. Until they are at least 3, and a lot of times till 5, they are going to be doing things a few months slower than other kids their age. You are a great mother for being concerned and just keep encouraging him. Also you can look into the March of Dimes. They are always looking for ammbasadors in all areas. Mine was one in 2005. Good luck with everything, and if you have any questions you are more than welcome to email me! :)

I recently had a baby she was 6 weeks early and I have asked my pediatritian the same questions. At 3 months old she still doesnt smile or coo when we talk to her. The doc said that technically she is only a month and a half old so dont worry she will catch up. I wouldnt worry about it too much as long as he is healthy and doing well he will catch up sooner or later.

You're probably just getting worked up, but check with your doctor. They can do develepmental tests to see how well he is learning. On a side note, my cousin was about 8 weeks premature as well, he's now a healthy, thriving 12 year old who LOVES baseball. His doctor never thought he'd be able to walk without braces. Best of luck and God bless!

Since your baby is 7 months old, but 8 weeks premature, he is only 5 months old "corrected age", so he should be doing what a 5 month old is doing, not a 7 month old. I think he will be ok, but check with his doctor if you are worried.

Dont get crazy over it, When he is ready he will do it and there is nothing wrong with it, I have b/g twins and they were 3 weeks early and they never really rolled over until they were like 8,9 months and my son didnt start walking till he was 14 months and my daughter was 16 months, and they are perfectly fine, give it time???

Yes, you can't push him for more than his developmental state will let him, and thats true that their brains are only the age of what he would have been born on time, so he'd be like 5 months

Mine was two weeks late, and did not sit up until after that, or ever realy roll over at all. Just go with it, or have him checked over if it will help you relax.

He is now 14, taller than me, and plays rugby.
