Yes, you have to be a native born US Citizen, and be at least 35 years old.
Your social studies teacher is correct, your parents are wrong.
As you were born in Scotland, assuming that you were not born in a US Military Hospital and neither of your parents are US citizens, you cannot ever be US president, short of a change in the US constitution.

From the constitution....
No person except a natural born Citizen, or a Citizen of the United States, at the time of the Adoption of this Constitution, shall be eligible to the Office of President; neither shall any Person be eligible to that Office who shall not have attained to the Age of thirty-five Years, and been fourteen Years a Resident within the United States.
A natural born citizen means that you are automatically a citizen at birth-- so under current rules, if you're born out of the country to US citizens, you are a citizen.

AFAIK, you have to be born in the U.S to be president, etc. As for vice-president... don't see where you can't. Though just to be on the safe side, I'd stick with at most being a Senator.

you must be born in the United States to be president. the only way that would change would be a constitutional ammendment, which requires such a large majority of votes that it is almost impossible to get one passed

i thought there have been residency standards, too. Having a US pass returned to the country on the final minute to run for President i think of would not pass down nicely with many people.
