if I use 10w40 oil in my car when I usually use 10w30?

as far as the enigne and the way it runs no it makes no difference. As far as the waranty I would be carefull. If your car is out of warranty then go for it. The only real difference is the 10w40 is a little thicker at operating temp. They changed from 10w40 to 10w30 in the late 70's or ealy 80's. It was just an epa thing for gas mileage. Same thing has happened over the years 10w30 gave way to 5w30 and now 5w30 is being slowly replaced by 5w20 and 0w30. But any way if the cat is under warranty stick with 10w30 if not doesnt really matter.

No. it wont. The 10w40 have better protection on hot weather and is as fluid as the 10w30 in your car, hence the "10"

They don't tell you 10w30 for nothing. The thinner oil flows through the tight areas better and gives you more protection where you need it most. You also get greater oil flow everywhere, so it helps cooling too.

nope i use 10w 40 in my truck ans it calls for 5w30 you just get higher oil perssure

Not really, the oil will be marginally thicker.
